It’s been a big week for My Hero Academia. After reports of a new domain name was claimed by TOHO -- leading to speculation of an anime adaptation coming -- the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump has revealed that the popular manga may be getting a spinoff manga .
The 48th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump -- via Anime News Network -- has announced that the My Hero Academia manga will have a "super super super important announcement" in the 49th issue, set to ship on Nov. 2. The issue adds that the "shocking announcement" will have a "seriously! Super surprising!!" feeling. The announcement will be featured on an opening color page.
Along with this special announcement, Weekly Shonen Jump revealed that Hirofumi Neda will launch the Boku no Hero Academia Smash!! (My Hero Academia Smash!!) "special spinoff" manga on the Jump+ digital app and in Weekly Shonen Jump.
What this new My Hero Academia spinoff manga will be about is not yet known but thankfully fans won’t have to wait too long to find out more details on the spinoff manga and this “special announcement” but I’m sure fans are looking forward to the reveal of the anime adaptation.
My Hero Academia first premiered on Weekly Shonen Jump in 2014 with four volumes already available in Japan and the first volume in North America from Viz Media on Aug. 4. With Naruto finished, My Hero Academia is becoming increasingly popular and to many, the next Naruto.
