We’re still a few months removed from Dark Souls 3’s April 12 release date,, but fans desperate for something new from the Dark Souls franchise can look forward to the early April debut of a new Dark Souls comic book series from Titan Comics, according to a report from IGN. .
Just when we were beginning to wonder where all the pre-launch promotion for Dark Souls 3 was, other than the convention circuit, Bandai Namco has announced a new partnership with Titan Comics that will yield a dedicated Dark Souls comic series. George Mann will handle writing duties for the new book and Alan Quah will draw each issue. Rather than retell narratives from the Dark Souls games, the DS comic book will explore the stories of other characters in the universe. We haven’t been given any names yet, so it’s hard to know what to expect from the series, but it’s hard to imagine many Dark Souls fans being upset about the change to dive further into the series’ lore.
IGN also says fans can expect to see the first issue in the series hit newsstands on April 6 – six days before the global debut of Dark Souls 3. The first issue will have five different covers, including variant covers from Joshua Cassara and Marco Turini. Sadly, there’s no word on whether Dark Souls will be a permanent addition to Titan Comics line-up or if the upcoming comic will be part of a limited series.
Dark Souls 3 is being developed for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The game is scheduled to debut on April 12.
