January continues to be an exciting month for EA Sports UFC 2. Just a couple of days after confirming UFC 2 will have a pre-launch trial period, for EA Access subscribers, EA Sports has revealed quite a bit of information about a UFC 2 closed beta that will begin later this month.
According to EA Sports, the beta for UFC 2 will begin on Jan. 28 – the same day The Division closed beta opens its doors to Xbox One owners – and will continue until Feb. 4. The closed beta will only be open to those who own a copy of EA Sports UFC, have registered for the beta on the UFC 2 website and are lucky enough to receive an invite to the test. Anyone interested in helping test UFC 2 have until 10 a.m. (PST) on Jan. 21 to register for the beta. EA Sports is also limiting participation to anyone 18 or older.
Unfortunately, we don’t yet know which fighters will be available. The beta FAQ says the roster will be comprised entirely of welterweights but there’s no word on who will (or won’t) be ready for use by the end of the month. There will also be a total of four game modes available. Here’s what EA Sports says we can expect to see in the UFC 2 beta:
1. Quick Fight
- Featuring the deepest roster of any fighting simulation, select fighters from the Welterweight division and step into the Octagon for a 3 or 5 round bout.
2. UFC Ultimate Team
- Create your team of up to five fighters using UFC 2’s deep customization options. Compete in online or offline competitions to progress your fighters and earn Coins that open packs which deliver special items used to sculpt your team into the most explosive in the UFC.
3. Practice Mode
- A no-consequences environment designed to let you master the basics of striking, grappling and clinch-work at your own pace before putting your skills to the test in real competition.
4. Skill Challenges
- Dive into all-new mini-games to help players learn and perfect stand-up, clinch, and ground disciplines.
EA Sports says testers will need 11 gigabytes of free space on their PS4 or Xbox One. Sadly, it sounds like preloading won’t be an option and the studio doesn’t know when the download will be available. The closest answer EA Sports could provide is that launch time will “vary by platform and region.” For more information on the UFC 2 closed beta, check out the full FAQ from EA Sports.
