Hardcore MMA fans probably don’t want to wait until mid-March to get their hands on EA Sports UFC 2, especially in the wake of this weekend’s huge pay-per-view news. So fans might be pretty happy to hear UFC 2 is one of several unreleased games getting a pre-launch trial period in 2016.
Last week, Electronic Arts used its first official trailer for UFC 2 to reveal the project’s release date to the general public. Surprisingly, the game will head to stores on March 17; just a couple of months after it was unveiled by the publisher. But EA has since confirmed that its biggest fans – EA Access subscribers, to be specific -- will get to play EA Sports UFC 2 a week earlier than the rest of the community. And it sounds like they’ll be getting a fairly significant head start on the rest of us.
According to the dedicated EA Access subsection, of the publisher’s website, the early access period for EA Sports UFC 2 will begin March 10; less than one week before the upcoming MMA game is scheduled to hit North American retailers and digital distribution services. There’s currently no word on how much of the game will be accessible to EA Access subscribers. Personally, I’ll be significantly less-interested if we can’t get into Career mode on March 10, but that will obviously vary from player to player.
Of course, early access to UFC 2 will be restricted to EA Access subscribers. So, if you haven’t signed up for the publisher’s premium service, which also includes access to a number of titles from the EA vault, you might want to plan on creating an account before March 10. Otherwise, you’re going to be waiting an extra week for the UFC 2 release date, just like the rest of us.
