It’s finally here, Pokemon fans. The highly-anticipated fighting game, Pokken Tournament is confirmed for a North American release in Spring 2016. But, it’s not just coming to the arcade near you but on your Nintendo Wii U.
After months of speculation and fan hoping, Nintendo is bringing the Pokemon/Tekken mash-up to its home console.
And not only was the Pokken Tournament Wii U announcement made at the 2015 Pokemon World Championships, but also a new character has been revealed. Pikachu Libre.
Check out the Pokken Tournament Wii U announcement trailer below.
The journey for Pokken Tournament to come to the Wii U began when the game was first announced last year when Bandai Namco and Nintendo announced the mash-up but only for Japanese arcades.
It was an interesting move for the company as this seemed like a surefire way to sell more games and possibly more Wii U consoles. However, months of testing and time in the Japanese arcades there was no information whether Pokken Tournament will make it outside of Japan.
However, after a documentary showcasing the creation of Pokken Tournament revealed there is a possibility of the game coming stateside, fans’ hopes were higher than ever.
This was amplified when a Dave and Buster’s exec had a Reddit AMA and revealed that Pokken Tournament would be coming to the restaurant chain for testing.
And now, here we are with a Pokken Tournament Wii U release date confirmation.
No other information was given, like whether the roster will increase or if Amiibos will be compatible but that type of info will eventually trickle out as we get closer to the Spring 2016 release date.
