At a Q&A in Edinburgh, Scotland, Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed new information about the highly anticipated (just me?) sequel to Conan the Barbarian , now titled Conan the Conqueror (RIP King Conan ). The Arnold Fans have captured what Arnold had to say about the future of Conan .

Arnold dove right into the plot of Conan the Conqueror , saying, “I’m sitting on the throne for years and years — decades, and then all of the sudden, the time comes when they want to overthrow me. So that story will be told and that movie will be done.”

Arnold Talks ‘Conan the Barbarian’ Sequel

The plot for Conan the Conqueror closely mirrors two early Conan stories , both set later in Conan’s life after he has become King of Aquilonia. Both “ The Phoenix on the Sword ” and “ The Scarlet Citadel ” deal with attempted coups against King Conan’s reign.

King Conan was also promised in the original movie, with Mako’s wizard narrator telling audiences “in time he became a king by his own hand.”

“This story shall also be told,” indeed.

While a direct sequel to the 1982 Conan the Barbarian has been in the planning stages since the failure of Jason Momoa’s Conan the Barbarian , Arnold says it’s really happening this time.

“As a matter of fact,” Arnold said, “it has been written and we are now looking for directors, so this is a serious drive.”

Although Arnold is 69 he told assembled fans that he’s ready for the physical challenges of Conan the Conqueror .

“ I feel great and the last few movies that I’ve done, I’ve done many of my own stunts. I did all the physical stuff and it didn’t wipe me out and I have plenty of energy and feel really terrific. So I am absolutely convinced that I can do the Conan movie and do the horseback riding, the sword fights and all the fighting ,” he said.

A release date has not yet been set for Conan the Conqueror .
