March was a pretty nice month for gamers with The Division taking the sales trophy. April, on the other hand, is definitely slower-paced with fewer big-name games. Let’s check out what’s coming in the month of April and see if Xbox One or PS4 has the better line-up.

Note: This list is compiled of all known release dates at the time of publishing. Changes can be made to releases in the future.

Multi-Platform

These games will be coming to both Xbox One and PS4 in April.

The first game coming to both consoles in April is Adam’s Venture: Origins. Set in the 1920’s, Adam’s Venture looks more like a poor man’s Indiana Jones than anything else. Adam’s Venture: Origins will be releasing on April 1.

For racing fans, DiRT Rally comes out April 5. This rally racing game features the best off-road graphics we have seen from the series yet. If you want the best rally racing sim yet, get DiRT Rally.

Stikbold! Will also be coming to Xbox One and PS4 in April. This 1970s-inspired dodgeball game will feature both local and online multiplayer madness. Additionally, there’s even a story mode that can be played solo or co-op. Stikbold! Releases on April 5.

Dark Souls III is definitely the biggest release of the month, and comes to consoles April 12. Get ready to die again and again as you battle massive creepy monsters, demons and other evil beings.

If you really liked playing Skyrim as a magic user, Lichdom Battlemage is the game for you. Players take on the role of a battlemage and blast away enemies using all sorts of magic spells. Lichdom Battlemage releases on April 19.

Pang Adventures has returned, complete with all the bubble-popping action you could wish for. This time around, new weapons help make popping all those bubbles much easier. Pang Adventures will also be releasing on April 19.

Coming April 20 to PS4 and Xbox One (in addition to Xbox 360 and PS3) is Masquerade: The Baubles of Doom. This brawler game also features platforming and puzzle sections to keep things interesting.

The third chapter of the rebooted King’s Quest franchise will be releasing on PS4 and Xbox One on April 26. Also coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, Once Upon A Climb will be similar to a romantic comedy, a merciful turn from last chapter’s dark and dreary setting and tone.

The last game coming to both PS4 and Xbox One in April is Battle Worlds: Kronos. Releasing on April 26, Battle Worlds: Kronos is a turn-based tactical game that looks pretty similar to Starcraft.

Xbox One

While already available on PC, Steredenn comes to Xbox One on April 1. This roguelike scrolling shooter features tons of ship customization options to get your vehicle playing exactly how you want it.

Microsoft’s biggest new IP launch in a long time, Quantum Break, is finally getting released on Xbox One and PC. This time-bending shooter will be available on April 5, so get ready to pause time on that date to play.

Enigmatis: The Ghosts of Maple Creek will also be seeing an April release, coming out on the 8th of the month. This puzzle game will have players searching high and low for clues while piecing together the mystery of Maple Creek.

The last game to come out on Xbox One in April is Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered. Already available on PC, Letter Quest is a turn-based RPG where players attack enemies by spelling out words. This will be available to download starting on April 8.

PS4

Enter the Gungeon is the first game coming in April to PS4. Also coming to PC, this top-down shooter/dungeon crawler sees a band of misfits fighting to get the ultimate treasure of the titular Gungeon: a gun that can kill the past. Enter the Gungeon will be released on April 5.

Dead Star also releases April 5 for the PS4 and PC. This top-down RPG game features players blasting away at enemies in space ships. The big difference for Dead Star is that it features online multiplayer.

The biggest PS4 exclusive of April, Ratchet & Clank, will be releasing on the 12th. This is neither a reboot or a remake, instead labeling itself as a “reimagining.” The majority of the plot is the same from the original Ratchet & Clank, but with story tweaks that line up with the upcoming movie.

Stories: The Path of Destinies is an isometric action RPG coming to PS4 and PC on April 12. Looking similar to games like Bastion and Transistor, Stories: The Path of Destinies sees players taking on the role of Reynardo the fox who must take action before the final battle between a mad Emperor’s army and a rebellion.

Also coming out April 12 is the horror game The Park. Based off the MMO The Secret World, The Park sees players take on the role of Lorraine, a single mother in search of her son. There’s all sorts of crazy twists and turns, so check it out if you want to be spooked.

Note: The Park has been listed for both the PS4 and Xbox One, but there are no reports of a release date other than on a PlayStation Blog post. An Xbox One release is unconfirmed at this time.

Invisible, Inc. has already enjoyed success on Steam and jumps to PS4 on April 19. Taking the stealth genre and making it turn-based, Invisible, Inc. has players controlling a group of spies who must infiltrate dangerous corporations to steal secrets.

Another top-down shooter, Alienation will be coming to PS4 on April 26. Players take control of a super soldier and must mow down countless waves of attacking aliens using all sorts of high-tech gear. What more do you want in a video game?

The last game coming to PS4 in April is Dungeons 2, also releasing on April 26. Also available on PC, Dungeons 2 sees players take on the role of a dungeon boss, creating traps and attracting monsters to kill heroes.

Who Wins?

This month, it’s very tricky to pick which console has the better line-up. The heavy hitters for the month are Quantum Break on Xbox One and Ratchet & Clank on PS4. Personally, I’m more excited for Quantum Break, so I’ll have to go with Xbox One as having the better line-up in April.

What do you think? Do you think the PS4 has the better line-up of games in April? What game are you most looking forward to? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
