Following the heart-wrenching “hold the door” sequence at the end of Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 5, we were left with Bran and Meera fleeing into the snow as Hodor sacrificed himself to slow down the White Walkers. But, how will they escape? The Game of Thrones Season 6 trailer, and some Reddit GoT S6 spoilers, can give us clues as to how they survive.
The official “Blood of My Blood” preview provided by HBO, along with some prior interviews, also hint at the return of a character we once thought was dead.
Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers and confirmed leaks are below. Please stop reading if you’re not into those sorts of things.
'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Episode 6 Spoilers: Does HBO’s Synopsis & Ian McShane 'Game of Thrones' Interview Promise The Hound’s Return?
Long before we came across the now-confirmed Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers, Ian McShane let slip in interviews what his new character in Game of Thrones is up to this season.
“The character is like a former warrior who has renounced violence and now leads this peace cult,” McShane said to Radio 5 Live, “I have nursed a loved character, a much loved character back to life. And he reintroduces—I won’t say him or her—but it’s a character whose much loved who everyone thinks is dead. But he’s not dead.”
Coupled with the preview for Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 6, “ An old foe comes back into the picture. Gilly meets Sam’s family. Arya faces a difficult choice. Jaime faces off against the High Sparrow,” it seems like the “old foe” could be none other than The Hound. These were the assumptions of most after McShane’s interview but a now-deleted Reddit thread posting full-season Game of Thrones spoilers confirms his appearance.
“Who else is still alive? The Hound,” the Game of Thrones Season 6 leaker said. “He is saved by some followers of some sort. They all get killed by some former Brotherhood Without Banners members while he is away. The Hound meets up with the other Brotherhood Without Banners and gets revenge.”
Whether we see the entire plot mentioned in the leak this episode remains to be seen but we’ll almost certainly see The Hound resurrected/saved soon. If it doesn't happen Sunday, expect it in "The Broken Man" next weekend.
'Game of Thrones' Season 6 Spoilers and Leaks Give Away a Surprising Return
We haven’t seen Uncle Benjen for a few years on Game of Thrones, but according to the same Reddit thread mentioned above, Uncle Benjen will be making his return this season.
“Uncle Benjen will come to rescue Bran and Meera. He will accompany them to The Wall before departing,” truede’s deleted post read.
Based on the preview for this week’s episode it looks like we’ll see his reappearance in episode 6. The trailer for the season shows a man in the snowy woods taking out a Wight with fire while riding on horseback. The Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers don’t confirm this particular shot is Uncle Benjen, but based on these spoilers it’s the logical choice. Sorry, no Coldhands, book lovers.
Little additional storylines are given in the Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers and leak so we’re not sure if we’ll get context as to where Uncle Benjen has been during his time or what he’ll do after “departing.”
Game of Thrones Season 6 episode 6 “Blood of My Blood” airs at 9 p.m. EST Sunday on HBO. Stay with iDigitalTimes for the latest Game of Thrones Season 6 spoilers, recaps and theories.
