The surprise hit of 2016, Super Mario Maker for the Nintendo Wii U, is coming to 3DS systems in December, bringing all the fun of creating your own Super Mario levels anywhere.
In a brand new gameplay trailer, Nintendo explains how players can collect achievement medals in Super Mario Maker 3DS by completing certain levels in a specific way. The Super Mario Maker medal challenges trailer, which you can watch above, shows how difficult some levels can be.
The first achievement medal shown is in course 1-3, which requires you to only defeat the Piranha Plants. Simple enough, right? Well, some of these plants are on Goombas’ heads so it takes some skill and accurate aim to complete.
In course 3-1, you have to reach the goal while holding down right on the d-pad for the entire course. This is pretty much a speed-run of the level so it will take some well-timed jumps and a little bit of luck.
Course 5-2’s challenge involves getting to the end without jumping. If you think that’s impossible, there are plenty of springs scattered throughout the level that will assist you in completing the level.
The final course shown, 9-2, has players luring every Boo in the stage towards the goal. And if you think it’s good enough to have them simply follow you as you grab the goal, it seems that you will have to let them get very close before touching the flag.
Super Mario Maker for the Nintendo 3DS will release in December.
