Super Mario Run released on iOS devices in early December, and now Android users can breathe a sigh of relief as the first Nintendo mobile game has now appeared in the Google Play store for pre-registration.
Android users looking for Super Mario Run can pre-register their device as of Dec. 29 and be notified when the app goes live in the Google Play Store.
Here’s the official announcement from Nintendo of America via its Twitter account.
Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto has said Super Mario Run would eventually make its way to Android and that it’s just more difficult to create a game for so many different phones.
Super Mario Run released as a free-to-download game on iOS, allowing players to get a taste of what the game offers but with an option to pay for the full game for $9.99.
However, there’s a distinct possibility that Nintendo could lower the price for Android users after many iOS users felt the price was too steep for what they got.
“People are experienced enough and smart enough to know that what they’re getting is the first experience. They get to brag. That’s worth something to people,” Joost van Dreunen, CEO of SuperData Research told iDigitalTimes. “That’s the first wave. Then you lower the price and get everybody else.”
Whatever the case, it seems Android fans have something to look forward to in 2017.
