Telltale’s Minecraft: Story Mode will return for a second season, which will start off in just around one month. As announced by Telltale and Mojang in a press statement, the five-episode season two will begin with the release of the first episode on July 11.
Telltale’s press statement confirms that player choices from the first season of Minecraft: Story Mode will carry over and impact the second season. That said, if you haven’t played the first season, the second season will likely still serve as a good entry point for new players.
Speaking of new players, the popular Crowd Play feature will be included for season two of Minecraft: Story Mode. Crowd Play allows a group of people to all play together, with everyone voting for decisions by using a mobile device, laptop, or anything else with a browser. If you haven’t played a Telltale game with a group of friends yet, it’s definitely a fun experience.
The first episode, called Hero in Residence, follows Jesse and the gang after they have defeated the Wither Storm and saved the world. Now that everyone is a big-shot hero, the friends begin to drift apart. That is, until Jesse’s hand gets caught in a mysterious gauntlet. This gauntlet is from an ancient temple deep underwater, so you know that means it’s time for a new adventure filled with danger, suspense and a whole lot of tough choices.
The main voice actors from the first season will be returning, like Patton Oswalt, Catherine Taper and Ashley Johnson. Some new and familiar voices will also be making a new appearance. For those involved in the Minecraft community, Stampy Cat, stacyplays and other personalities will have some fun cameos, so make sure you’re listening and to talk to all of the NPCs you can find to see if your personality made it into the game.
Minecraft: Story Mode comes to Xbox One, PS4, PC, iOS and Android-based devices with the release of Hero in Residence on July 11. The following episodes will be released at later dates, usually around a month after the previous episode has released.
