The latest Tesla Model 3 is the first entry-level offering from the rockstar electric car company and it's slated to begin delivery in late 2017 at a price starting from $35,000. The Model 3 may be the cheapest car in the lineup but don't think for a second that the Model 3 will be short on performance. Come on, that's not Elon Musk's style!
While specs suggest that a standard Model 3 will only accelerate from 0-60 mph in just under six-seconds. But what about the neck-snapping three-second acceleration that we have become accustomed to from the Tesla Model S? According to a Twitter response from Musk, the hilariously fast "Ludicrous Mode" will be available in the Model 3.
Obviously, details are slim, but it's nice to know that Tesla is determined to make premium products at any price point. That said, premium products still come at a price. Ludicrous Mode is a $10,000 option that is currently available for the Tesla Model S sedan and Model X crossover. While Ludicrous Mode is capable of rocketing a Model S from 0-60 in just 2.8 seconds, we'll have to wait before we can confirm whether the Model 3 could match the pace.
That said, the real ludicrous thing about the new Tesla Model 3 is its remarkable demand. Via CNBC, Elon Musk announced that nearly 400,000 deposits have been received since the Model 3 was announced last month.
So what's the minimum acceleration necessary for you to get excited about Ludicrous Mode for the Tesla Model 3? Are you one of the 400,000 that put down a deposit? Let us know in the comment section below!
