TimeSplitters may not be getting a remake or remaster any time soon, but we do have the next best thing to look forward to in TimeSplitters: Rewind. The fan-made project has just released its first teaser trailer, and it doesn’t really give us much.
As we can see from the trailer, well… crystals are falling from the sky, I guess? If you want to know more about the project, go to the official website to see updates on development. Rewind will be multiplayer only to start, and will use original assets from the original TimeSplitters games as a basis for making higher-quality versions.
Many features are already planned for TimeSplitters: Rewind such as bots and even split-screen gameplay. A Map Maker is in the works, and the development team says if they cannot figure out how to get it to work, TimeSplitters: Rewind will instead support mods to allow for custom content.
While TimeSplitters: Rewind is a fan-made project, rights holder Crytek has said it will not impede the progress of the group. This means unlike many of the popular Nintendo fan-made projects, this one shouldn’t be getting shut down. It does mean that the developers are volunteering time for the project, which means this could take some time before it is finally able to be released.
So what do you think? Are you interested in trying a revamped version of TimeSplitters multiplayer? What other fan-made projects are you excited for? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
