A user has popped up on the Titanfall subreddit claiming to have inside information about Titanfall 2. Along with the leaked info, user ilovegoogleglass has also leaked artwork that will reportedly be used for the game box cover.
While the original post has since been deleted, the text and photo were saved by NeoGAF. The text mentions that Titanfall 2 will be released in October, but no specific date was mentioned. The post also mentions that the artwork above will be used for the box cover, specifically the left-hand side with the Titan and Pilot on it.
As for gameplay changes, a grappling hook is said to be getting added for Pilots to use. This grappling hook can be used to get into a Titan, to help with free-running and moving around a map and to even pull other pilots out of the air to attack them. The grappling hook is not seen in the leaked artwork, but certainly sounds exciting (especially after playing with the grappling hook in Uncharted 4).
Going along with the grappling hook, maps will be bigger this time around as well. As the post mentions, this could be hinting at the player count increasing for matches, but nothing was confirmed either way.
The reddit post also mentioned there will be a pre-order bonus. Those who pre-order will get the Violator handgun.
Like with any internet rumor, this should not be taken as fact. Seeing as how EA and Respawn haven’t announced any of these details, consider all of this a rumor until the big reveal at the first ever EA Play. EA’s own pre-E3 event will be taking place on Sunday, June 12 with a press conference starting at 4 p.m. EDT.
If you want to know what is true about Titanfall 2, we do know the new game will be multi-platform, coming to Xbox One, PC and PS4. It’s also likely there will be a single-player campaign, which is a welcomed addition as the original Titanfall was a multiplayer-only shooter. There may even be a television spin-off set in the Titanfall universe!
