We just got a trailer for Titanfall 2 . The brief teaser for the game shows a pod in a jungle being discovered by a giant robot, which carries a sword. There’s an ominous voice over with a weird English accent talking about being a hero. The main reveal, which will most likely be another trailer, will take place on June 12.
Why are they making another one of these games? Titanfall was really popular for about a month, and then was completely forgotten about. It was an average shooter with robots thrown in, that brought nothing new to the table. It was kind of a big deal, until Evolve came out, which coincidently was also forgotten about very quickly. I played Titanfall maybe three times and haven’t picked it up since.
Titanfall 2 is going to have to blow my socks off, which is hard since there are so many online shooters out there. Resident Evil Umbrella Corps and Gears of War 4 are just two of the games that are trying to “reinvent” the shooter by doing the exact same thing as everyone else. There are games that are unique, like Overwatch , but they are far less prevalent than the AAA spew we get so much of.
Blowing up robots is cool, but do we really need to do it again?
