Titanfall 2 will be releasing within a few weeks of Battlefield 1. This news comes from Blake Jorgensen, the CFO at EA, by way of DualShockers. Jorgensen recently spoke at the 2016 Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2016 Global Technology Conference, where he revealed the release information.
Speaking about Titanfall 2, Jorgensen said that the game will come out roughly three weeks from Battlefield 1. Jorgensen didn’t specify if this would be three weeks before or after Battlefield 1 though. Seeing as how Battlefield 1 is coming out Oct. 21, this gives Titanfall 2 a potential release window from Sept. 30 to Nov. 11.
That’s still pretty big window of time, so let’s narrow things down a bit. Jorgensen also mentioned EA would be going head-to-head with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. The strategy for EA, Jorgensen said, is to “come from both sides in the quarter” to come out on top in terms of sales. Infinite Warfare comes out on Nov. 4, meaning a Nov. 11 Titanfall 2 release date would put EA on both sides of the latest Call of Duty release.
The last nail in the coffin that all but proves a November release for Titanfall 2 is the wording used by Jorgensen. He mentioned that Titanfall 2 will be coming three weeks from Battlefield 1. If the release date is three weeks from Oct. 21, that puts it after Oct. 21.
As for other information on Titanfall 2, a recent leak on reddit may have revealed new gameplay information. It seems players will be getting a new grappling hook tool that can be used for anything from getting around levels to getting into your Titan and even pulling enemies right out of the sky above you. Seeing as how this information is based on a now-deleted reddit thread, it’s best to not take it as fact until we hear a formal announcement from EA.
Expect to learn all about Titanfall 2, including the new gameplay features, news on a single-player campaign and the proper release date at EA Play on June 12.
