"Rainbow Six Siege," the Tom Clancy-based game from Ubisoft, has turned a decade old this year, and it is now gearing up for a major overhaul via "Rainbow Six Siege X." However, do not expect this game to be a sequel to the original game as it will still be based on the 2015-released title.

However, gamers can expect massive updates that are set to improve the experience for all.

Ubisoft Unveils 'Rainbow Six Siege X': An Overhaul After 10 Years

Ubisoft shared a new video amidst its Six Invitational event which showcased their new game called "Rainbow Six Siege X," and it provided an inside look at the future of the online shooter franchise.

According to the company, massive experiences are coming to this new game while holding on to the roots of the original title enjoyed by the public.

The company teased significant changes to the upcoming game compared to its current "Rainbow Six Siege" title that was originally released in 2015, with more ways to enjoy the new tactical gameplay amidst friends and global adversaries.

It will still focus on the first-person shooter experience introduced by "Rainbox Six Siege," with online still being a factor in the gameplay.

The new game is a testament to Ubisoft's dedication to continuing the "Rainbow Six" franchise, which has been available for many years now.

In fact, towards the end of 2024, Ubisoft shared a crossplay experience on "Rainbow Six Siege" that allowed console players to match up against PC players, and vice versa, which has been a welcome addition.

'Rainbow Six Siege X' Is Not a Sequel

While there are no officla details yet from Ubisoft, the company's teaser claimed that changes are coming, with this release being the "biggest transformation" to the game in its entire history. There will also be "new ways to play," and it will see a deeper tactical gameplay that will be enjoyed once the game is live.

It is important to note that this is not a sequel to the 2015-released online shooter game, but it will continue the game's legacy with an overhauled experience.

There will be another live showcase from Ubisoft on March 13 at 10 a.m. PT (1 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT), and fans may visit this website for more details about the upcoming event.

Ubisoft and Its Action Shooter Franchise

Ubisoft is still banking on the popularity of its Tom Clancy-based video game franchise as it is the remaining action shooter experience available from the company after "XDefiant's" downfall and eventual shutdown later this year.

That being said, the company is continuing support for "Rainbow Six Siege," its 10-year-old online action shooter title, but the plan to overhaul it and bring a new experience is already on the horizon and is expected for later this year.
