Until Dawn's PlayStation 5 remake just shared some new details regarding the upcoming "remaster," including its price as well as what fans can expect to see.
The first thing that players can expect to see when it comes to the PlayStation 5 remake of Until Dawn is that it could have a retail price of $60. The upcoming remastered version of the game is set to release in just a few months.
Until Dawn PlayStation 5 Remake
While the new game will not have a lot of changes compared to the original, the main difference is that it will transition to next-gen platforms. This would ultimately enhance the overall graphics and cinematics of the game.
The developer, Supermassive Games, also recreated the game in Unreal Engine 5 with the goal of giving players access to a more intimate experience. This would be done throughout the slasher/horror game's unfolding horrific events, according to WCCFTech.
The official release date of the remaster was recently revealed for both PlayStation 5 and PC, where the game will make its debut. Players now have an idea of the potential retail price for the upcoming game.
With the leak of the possible pricing of the remastered game, some PlayStation fans consider it as outrageous.
This is given that other remaster counterparts, including The Last of Us Part II, initially retailed at roughly $55 on PlayStation 5. Nowadays, the original version of the title has become much cheaper.
Until Dawn's PlayStation 5 remake is officially coming out on Oct. 4, 2024, and will feature changes to graphics, gameplay, story elements, and "more."
On top of being rebuilt from the ground up, the remake has also been "completely relit" and includes raytracing, said Eurogamer.
Other Details for the Upcoming Game
This has allowed Supermassive Games to focus on a "more atmospheric and 'modern horror' experience" for the upcoming remaster. Furthermore, it will feature a new camera control mechanic that will allow you to "see the world... from entirely new perspectives."
The team said that the camera's flexibility blends the cinematography of the original game with the introduction of a modern third-person camera. They are hoping that this will bring new life to both characters and locations within the game.
The developer said that it used modern pre-rendering simulation techniques to create what they called more realistic real-time fluids.
This is something that is seen in the game's updated character deaths. Supermassive Games also updated the injury mask system, according to the PlayStation Blog.
