Valheim, the sleeper hit title by the indie developer Iron Gate AB, received a small patch today. The dedicated server in the game will now always use direct connections, instead of Steam Datagram Relay. This will reduce latency for several players.
Players can now create private dedicated servers by putting “-public 0” to the server command line. You can also refer to the dedicated-server PDF manual for more information.
The update made some minor localization changes as well. Haldor head-turn is now smoother and wolf procreation is now less frequent. Check out the complete changelog below.
Update 0.147.3 Patch Notes

- Made Haldor head-turn smoother.
- Object network interpolation is skipped if the object was far away, solved the issue with network players flying through the air when entering dungeons & exiting portals, etc.

- Lowered chance of boss trophy talking.
The patch notes are mentioned on the official site as well.
Valheim might not be a complete game yet, but that didn’t stop players from having fun. The game is a big hit on Steam, selling more than two million copies in less than two weeks. This is impressive for a game that is only made by five people. Let’s hope Valheim can retain its popularity in the coming months. There is also no word on when the Early Access period will end. I guess it’s not gonna be in 2021.
Valheim is currently available on Steam for a measly $20.
