After more than a decade in hibernation, the Valkyrie Profile series returns to its home console via its newest entry, Valkyrie Elysium. The title, handled by Soleil and published by Square Enix, will be released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on September 29 and on November 11 on PC via Steam. The game is now up for pre-orders via its respective platforms, and Square Enix has also released a new trailer which you can check out in action below.
Valkyrie Elysium will be priced at $59.99 across all platforms for the Standard Edition. A Digital Deluxe Edition for PS4 and PS5 is also available for $74.99, while $64.99 on PC. The price difference is justifiable, though. The PC version will only carry the Valkyrie equipment “Svartaljr: Sword of the Goddess of the Underworld” as a bonus, unlike the PlayStation versions having the Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth game as an extra.
If you’re only interested in the Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth re-release, this version is a direct port from the PlayStation Portable version and includes new features, such as Rewind, Quick Save, and Visual Presets. A separate version will also be made available on the PlayStation Store, with further details like pricing to be announced later.
Valkyrie Elysium is an action RPG in the same vein as its predecessors and is the fifth overall title in the Valkyrie Profile series. Beginning with the original Valkyrie Profile for PlayStation in 1999, the series moved to the PlayStation 2 with Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria in 2006. Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, an enhanced version of the first title, was released on PSP in the same year. After that, the series was absent from PlayStation consoles, only making an appearance on Nintendo DS with Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume in 2009 and Valkyrie Anatomia on mobile devices in 2019.
Valkyrie Elysium will mark the return of Motoi Sakuraba to compose its iconic music and the long-awaited return of Valkyrie as she’s tasked by Odin to save a doomed world.
