A new update has been released for Vampire Survivors which introduces a lot of new content. Patch 0.2.10 introduces three new achievements and two new characters in Dommario and Suor Clerici. There is also a new special and challenge stage like the classic Mad Forest, though it doesn't have new enemies or a new layout.
You're probably wondering what this game is all about right? For starters, Vampire Survivors was released on Steam Early Access last December 2021. It's a time survival game with rogue-lite elements and minimalistic gameplay. All players need to do is try and survive the night and get as much gold as possible. The game is indeed simple but reviews on Steam (around 17,500 at the time of writing) have so far been overwhelmingly positive.
February Plans
If you’re interested, there’s a lot more coming. In February, an update is set to be released which offers Stage 3. It also unlocks a new minor game mechanic that allows players to recruit new and special characters.
Mobile Version
Developer poncle also gave an update on the status of the mobile version. As a background, a mobile version was initially tested in some regions back in May 2021. However, the results weren’t positive so the efforts went back to the PC version. The good news is poncle is running a parallel project to allow the game to move to an engine, which supports a good mobile version.
Engine issues
Speaking of the game engine, poncle revealed that there are still some rendering issues being experienced on certain hardware, regardless of how powerful it is. In particular, these issues won’t let people play the version on Steam. For now, it seems that the best option is to wait for a new version to be released using a different engine.
