The Walking Dead Season 7 midseason finale is nearly here, and there are so many questions we want answered in the 90-minute script. Based on what we know now, here are five things we hope are featured in episode 8.
1) What’s Going On With Carol And Morgan: Carol and Morgan haven’t been seen since episode 2, and that’s a little surprising. After all, they were making major plot strides with the introduction of Ezekiel and the Kingdom. Something has to be going on over there, and we really want to see it.
It’s potentially one of the most unique subplots for the show right now. Carol and the king seemed to be getting pretty cozy, so how does Morgan fit into that picture? Between that flowering romance and Morgan’s involvement at this stage, we’re witnessing two huge departures from the comics. Not knowing what to expect is awesome, so it’d be nice to dig even deeper in episode 8.
2) Does Negan Have Plans For Carl: Negan and Carl shared some quality bonding time during episode 7, and it was quite unnerving to watch. After multiple threats, showcases of power and cruel forms of punishment, Negan seemed all too happy to bring the boy back to Alexandria. At the close of the plot, we saw him holding Judith and laughing.
Given how unpredictable he is, does Negan have any plans for Carl or his sister that we might not foresee? There’s been lots of chatter about the young Grimes losing his arm. Could that play out in the midseason finale? Will Rick walk in on Negan holding his daughter? Those who have read the comics probably have some ideas about Carl and Negan’s relationship, but a surprise isn’t out of the question.
3) What’s Daryl’s Next Move: The Norman Reedus fan club has had a depressing Season 7 so far, as Daryl Dixon remains captive at the Sanctuary. From what little we’ve seen of him, it’s obvious he’s biding his time until he can make a swift escape.
Given that it’s already the midseason finale and we’d like to see the Daryl arc progress, we hope his chance to run arrives on Sunday. If it does, who will help him break free? Dixon’s ties to Dwight’s wife Sherry seem to be growing, so we wouldn’t be surprised if she or her husband were somehow involved. If he does get to Alexandria, is it possible he may never be the same?
4) How Does The Spencer Revolt Play Out: Spencer’s patience with Rick is wearing thin, and many fans of The Walking Dead are expecting this conflict to come to a head in episode 8. With Rick and Aaron away from camp, can Spencer take full control over a group of people that seem reluctant to follow him? How might Negan play into that story? Will he use the Monroe bloodline to justify a hostile revolt? Spencer’s arc has never been that intriguing, so this is about as good as it gets.
5) Does Anybody Die: With any midseason finale of The Walking Dead, death is always going to be a major question. October’s premiere was one of the bloodiest episodes the show has ever seen, but, since then, it’s been fairly quiet. It’s almost as if tension is building to another major event. This is another instance where comic readers may have a few theories. If you want to know the truth early, feel free to read our spoiler report here.
The Walking Dead Season 7 midseason finale airs Dec. 11 on AMC.
