The Walking Dead universe will expand in Season 7 with the introduction of The Sanctuary and The Kingdom, but there may be another community lurking close by.
ComicBook.com reports The Walking Dead showrunner Scott Gimple recently told a San Diego Comic-Con 2016 press conference fans will see characters in odd places. For example, Heath and Tara went on a supply run at the end of The Walking Dead Season 6. We don’t know exactly where they will wind up, but it’s possible they will interact with people outside of Hilltop, Sanctuary and Kingdom.
"We have these groups coming into the mix," Gimple said during the press conference. "Some of these groups, we've only seen hints of, like the Saviors. They exist in their own society. We see that. We talked about the Kingdom. That's their own place. We saw Tara and Heath in a weird place. There's Alexandria. With these places, you have different characters and ways of life. We're expanding literally to these types of locations but also with these characters and the types of lives that they lead."
In The Walking Dead comics , there’s a group called The Whisperers that live amongst the dead. However, the communities don’t encounter them until after the all-out war with Negan, so it’s unlikely Tara and Heath will run into them this early. The show could be introducing another small community to shake things up a bit.
What we do know is Rick won’t be able to fight off Negan on his own. He will need to make alliances to bring down the ruthless leader of The Saviors. The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 on AMC.
