Produced by Studio Khara of Rebuild of Evangelion fame, part 2 of Gravity Rush: Overture (the Animation) is now available. The anime is meant to bridge the gap between the first Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2. Check out the full Gravity Rush: Overture anime below:
The anime follows Gravity Rush heroine Kat and her new gravity-shifting powers as she fights back against a terrible enemy that threatens to unravel the universe. Syd, Raven, Kat’s cat and Raven’s crow all make appearances, offering a look on Kat’s growth as a person before hitting the meat of the story. Kat’s an adorable goofball with a gluttonous streak who cracks jokes, stuffs her face and then unleashes Over 9000 Power when things get real. Fans of that classic anime trope ought to really enjoy Gravity Rush: The Overture.
The first Gravity Rush game was released back in 2012 for the PS Vita, and the second Gravity Rush game was originally scheduled for an Oct. 2016 release. It was delayed until Jan. 20, 2017.
“Gravity Rush 2 is the conclusion of Kat’s journey, so we want players to have enough time to dive deep into her story. In addition, as a lot of work went into online features that allow for asynchronous player interaction, we want as many people as possible playing the title at the same time,” wrote game director Keiichiro Toyama in a post on the PlayStation blog.
As an apology, Sony will be offering a free “premium” DLC pack that will add an “additional story” to the game’s world.
A Gravity Rush 2 demo is also available on the PlayStation 4 here. It contains two paths, one for beginners and one for experienced players, each with unique content.
“Please note that this code was produced during the middle of game development, and is not representative of final game quality,” the demo page warns.
