World of Tanks announced that the Modern Armor is now live. For those wondering what this is all about, think PvP but with tanks. In particular, it offers players the chance to join 15v15 tank battles against other players worldwide. Aside from the excitement of going into battle, more than 90 maps and at least 800 tanks from the 20th and 21st centuries are available.
There’s a bit of a catch though since this is only available on current-gen and next-gen consoles. That means the only PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X players can enjoy the new addition. Another good news for console players, crossplay is available.
In a press statement, World of Tanks Console Executive Producer TJ Wagner shared that they are more than happy to offer something new to players. He added that Modern Armor is the biggest evolution to come to the game and they are looking forward to all battles that are going to happen.
Join the Cold War
World of Tanks revealed that the Cold War game mode has been added. This multiplayer mode has players team up to take on other teams. There’s also the co-op mode where players can team up to beat an enemy AI team.
Initially, only two factions - the Western Alliance and Eastern Alliance - are available. It covers a total of three eras with three tanks from each era. That means a total of 18 Tech Tree tanks. Players can expect to have more Tech Tree expansion in the future.

Take the First Strike
With Modern Armor now live, it means that First Strike is here. This is the first season of Modern Armor where players can earn rewards.
Like other seasons, this one is also divided into 100 levels and can be finished by getting XP in battle. But there are differences:
- Players can earn level points no matter which multiplayer game mode they play.
- Free Rewards include all-new Cold War-era consumables like Smokescreens and Hull Patch.
During First Strike, players have the chance to get their first-ever 3D Commander as a free reward, which is the USSR-themed Nadia Sokolova Standard 3D Commander. It’s available after finishing Level 75.
