Nearly four dozen more wrestlers joined the WWE 2K18 roster this week, including some of the most popular up-and-coming performers on World Wrestling Entertainment’s payroll. There are plenty of notable omissions, like Raw and Smackdown’s respective Women’s Champions, but WWE and IGN say more names will be added to WWE 2K18 in late August and September.
Technically, this is the second batch of names we’ve seen, thanks to a handful of early screenshots and other marketing materials released this summer. Previous disclosures have confirmed WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, John Cena, Kurt Angle and Seth Rollins will all appear in the game. Older fans will appreciate that Angle will be playable in WWE 2K18, not just reprising his current on-screen role as Raw’s General Manager. But those interested in stepping into boots of WWE’s only two-time gold medal winner will have to pre-order their copy of WWE 2K18 -- or wait for it to inevitably show up as a paid offering -- to get access to Angle.
This week, WWE confirmed another batch of champions for the WWE 2K18 roster, along with some of the biggest names currently on WWE television. WWE Champion Jinder Mahal joins the list of names from this year’s wrestling game, along with Raw Tag Team Champions Sheamus and Cesaro. This week’s list didn’t include current Smackdown Tag Team Champions The New Day; however, we’d be stunned if the infinitely merch-able trio didn’t make the cut. We also found out the first handful of WWE Legends and Alumni who will join the roster, a list that includes Bam Bam Bigelow, The Bushwackers and Diamond Dallas Page.
