Console owners excited to have a crack at one of the best strategy titles this year will be disappointed for a while longer , as XCOM 2 ’s release date has been delayed for three weeks on Xbox One and PS4.
The release date for XCOM 2 on PS4 and Xbox One has now been moved from Sept. 26 to Sept. 27. International regions can look forward to XCOM 2 on Sept. 30.
T ake-Two president Karl Slatoff announced during Take-Two's quarterly earnings call that Firaxis would use that time "ensure the game is fully polished at launch and meets the team's high standards.”
Considering that XCOM 2 wasn’t originally being considered for consoles at all, a three-week delay is better than a bugged launch. “When we have our meetings, when we talk about stuff, we only talk about PC,” Creative Director Jake Solomon told IGN last year . “Our expertise here is PC. That's our home, and that's where we're really comfortable.”
XCOM 2 was originally released for PC, Mac and Linux this February. 2K and Firaxis Games are working with The Workshop , a dedicated subsidiary of Skydance Media, to produce the console version.
