During Day 2 of Nintendo’s live Treehouse Event at E3 2016, Yo-Kai Watch 2 was shown off after the first game introduced the West to the franchise that has swept Japan.
A lot of new Yo-kai join Yo-Kai Watch 2 as you play as Nate again, accompanied by Whisper. There’s a new mystery fallen upon your town and it has a lot to do with time travel. Some of the live gameplay footage shown at Nintendo Treehouse shows Nate meeting a new Yo-kai, who was actually Nate’s grandfather’s partner.
They all then travel to 60 years in the past and will meet with Nate’s grandfather.

Some gameplay elements shown include a new Mirror Yo-kai will transport you from the past and present by going through it, and a new mini-game during battle that lets you move the hand of a clock to build up energy to launch attacks.
Level-5 president Akihiro Hino was present at the live Treehouse event, and when asked if the “classic” Yo-kai from the first game will have a role in the sequel, he clarified that the Yo-kai from the first game are classic and not “legacy Yo-kai,” and are tied into Japanese mythology.
With that said, they will assist in the story of Yo-Kai Watch 2.
Yo-Kai Watch 2 is set to release Sept. 30. With two different versions, Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls.
