Young Justice ’s return for a third season was a win for the fans and the creators of the beloved superhero show. With the third season titled Young Justice: Outsiders coming in 2018, the crew held a panel at San Diego Comic-Con to discuss the first two seasons and some of what to expect from the third.
The panel started with a highlight reel of the first two seasons and then producer Greg Weisman explained how it was the fans who got the third season of Young Justice made. The way fans binged the series on Netflix and how they took to the internet caught Warner Bros. attention.
Weisman posited how the higher ups at Warner Bros. told him that they created the perfect binge show but it was five years too soon. He also said that the Darkseid scene at the end of season 2 was there because they knew they weren’t coming back and that’s how they wanted to go out.
Young Justice: Outsiders will be streamed on DC’s new digital service and that allows for more room to write for an older audience but it will still be Young Justice. They don’t want to reinvent the wheel.
The third season of Young Justice will be 26 episodes long and when the season starts, there will be a time skip. The crew did not specify how long it would be.
With the time skip will come redesigns of costumes and changes to the team. The first slide they showed was the new Young Justice team of Robin, Arsenal, Blue Beetle, Bart Allen, Static, Wonder Girl and Beast Boy.
Another slide shows off three new female heroes. One will be Sissy who made a brief appearance in the first season and will now be known as Arrowette. The middle character is a brand new character while Spoiler (Stephanie Brown) will also be joining the team.
And then we have the original team, who all look a little older but they are more covert ops than superheroes.
