Young Justice Season 3, titled Outsiders, is heading to San Diego Comic Con and there’s some good news ahead of the event: Five episodes have already been recorded.
When Superboy’s voice actor Nolan North talked about his friendship with fellow Young Justice voice actor Khary Payton (Aqualad) at Awesome Con, he also mentioned how far they are along in the recording process.
“It’s happening, we just recorded episode five — it’s happening,” North told the audience.
While it’s a safe bet they are further along now, it’s still great news that production is well underway. The last thing YJ fans want is a holdup after the show’s three year hiatus. Season 2 ended in November 2013.
Both North and Payton are the only two voice actors we know so far who are definitely appearing in Season 3. Jason Spisak has also teased his role of Kid Flash on Twitter, but considering Wally West was assumed MIA in the Young Justice Season 2 finale, we’ll have to wait for official confirmation on that one.
Spisak took to Twitter to share a scene from the upcoming Teen Titans: The Judas Contract animated movie, where he voices Kid Flash.
Flash, Kid Flash and Impulse all joined together in the Young Justice Season 2 finale to stop a magnetic field disrupter, which the Reach placed all across the world, from going “chrysalis mode” and exploding. Because his super speed isn’t as fast as the other speedsters, the energy consumed him and he disappeared. Bart Allen now wears the Kid Flash suit to honor Wally's legacy.
Young Justice Season 3 is expected to arrive in 2018 on a new DC streaming service.
“Operated by Warner Bros. Digital Networks Group, the new digital service will deliver an immersive experience designed just for DC fans,” the press release states.
“The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us,” said Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series, in a statement. "We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.”
In Outsiders, the team faces its greatest challenge yet by taking on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for society. They get caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy. Sam Register (Teen Titans Go! ) is executive producer alongside the series’ original creators, Brandon Vietti and Greg Weisman.
