The Welcome to Toon World event has begun in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links , allowing for duelists to duel Pegasus to win his famed Toon cards and to get the chance at recruiting the creator of Duel Monsters.

To unlock Pegasus in Duel Links is documented in our guide, here, but here we will give you tips on how to defeat Pegasus in a duel even at Level 40.

Level 40 duelists in Duel Links are the hardest difficulty level. After defeating Pegasus at Level 10, 20 and 30, his Level 40 deck will be unlocked and it’s a doozy. However, like anyone else’s deck, there are weaknesses to Pegasus’ and this is where we’ll document how we defeated him.

Of course, duels can be predicated on turn order, what your opening hand is etc… so this isn’t foolproof but you can better prepare for the duel against Pegasus if you follow these instructions.

DE-SPELL IS YOUR FRIEND

Some of the most powerful decks in the current meta of Duel Links rely on field spells and the ability to play it on the first turn. Pegasus has an ability that allows him to play the continuous spell card, Toon World, with no cost on his opening turn.

While this does limit how many spells/traps he can set/play this card is crucial to his strategy.

If you can get rid of Toon World using de-spell or other spell destroying effects, it will cripple his Toon cards and prevent them from attacking you directly.

Pegasus also plays the field spell, Sorcerous Spell Wall, which increases his monsters’ attack by 300 on his turn and their defense by 300 on your turn. Increasing his Toon monsters’ defense allows them to stick around so they can attack you directly on his turn.

This tactic goes right into Pegasus’ strategy to set his Toons up to attack you directly.

OVERPOWER PEGASUS’ STALL TACTICS

Toon cards cannot attack on the turn they are summoned so Pegasus employs tactics to make sure they survive a turn before they attack your lifepoints directly.

He’ll use traps like Michizure and Magic Arm Shield to protect his monsters and the aforementioned Sorcerous Spell Wall field card to buff up his monsters’ defense.

Counteract this by summoning high attack monsters and swarming the field as much as possible. Ritual Summons are a great way to get more than one monster on the field at the same time.

Summoning Paladin of White Dragon is one example of getting a high powered monster on the field by special summoning Blue Eyes White Dragon on turn one.

Rex Raptor and Mako Tsunami decks that make use of their abilities to play Jurassic World and Umi on turn one will help you boost the attack of your monsters so they can overcome Pegasus’ more powerful monsters like Toon Gemini Elf and get around the defense buff from Sorcerous Spell Wall.
