One of the best parts of conventions are the booths filling the showfloor with things to buy and do. Among the best at New York Comic-Con 2017 is the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG booth.
If you’ve been to NYCC before (or even San Diego Comic-Con) you’ve probably noticed lines of people waiting to take their photos at the Yu-Gi-Oh! booths. That’s because those fans are having their pictures made into official Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG tokens.
“The most popular item is the token photo booth,” Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Marketing Specialist Robert Boyajian told Player.One. “It has the New York Comic-Con logo on it, so even if you’ve seen us at San Diego you can get this NYCC exclusive.”
Fans of the TCG can get their game on with Konami’s organized play area. Various tournaments take place throughout the day including “Attack of the Giant Card” an event where duelists compete for giant versions of different cards.
Or fans can “Duel the Master” and face off against a world championship player. Winners get a pack, but no one goes home empty-handed. A special promo card is given to fans too, so there’s nothing to lose by testing your skills.
The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Booth is also a great spot for new players. Expert judges teach the ins and outs of the TCG in a demo area that shows off the latest product and answer any questions that prospective duelists may have (they even helped explain Link Summoning to me).
There are also demo stations of the popular mobile game, Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Links.
Of course the Yu-Gi-Oh! products on display are a huge draw for fans of the TCG. There’s a future product display case that shows off some of the decks and box sets coming to North America soon, including the Legendary Duelists 2 pack and the Wave of Light deck.
But what’s a con without a con exclusive? The Yu-Gi-Oh! booth has a brand new playmat for duelists to collect.
“This year at Comic-Con we have Kaiba. We did Yugi at San Diego Comic-Con and if you’re familiar with the mega tins they had super cool artwork on them,” Boyajian said. “So we used the Yugi one in San Diego and we used Kaiba artwork here.”
The Yu-Gi-Oh! booth will be open for the rest of NYCC 2017 and will likely be around next year, so be sure to check it out when you can.
