‘The 100’ Season 3 Spoilers: CW Releases Synopsis And Clip Of Shawn Mendes Singing In Premiere Episode [VIDEO]

The 100 season 3 premieres Jan. 21. In the meantime, the CW has blessed fans of this post-apocalyptic fantasy drama with a few spoilers. First, a clip of 17-year old superfan songwriter Shawn Mendes, aka Justin Bieber #2, passionately singing in the first episode. And if that doesn’t fulfill your pre-season curiosities, the network has also released the official synopsis for the premiere episode entitled “Wanheda: Part One.”

“Three months have passed since the tragedy at Mount Weather and our heroes learn that a bounty has been put on Clarke's (Eliza Taylor) head. Unbeknownst to Clarke, a team led by Bellamy (Bob Morley) and Kane (Henry Ian Cusick) journeys deep into Grounder territory to save her. Meanwhile, Murphy (Richard Harmon) finds his way to the mansion and discovers a very different Jaha (Isaiah Washington) on a very different mission.”

At the end of season 2, Clarke leaves Camp Jaha. “Seeing their faces every day is just going to remind me of what I did to get them here,” she tells Bellamy in the finale episode. “I bear it so they don’t have to,” she adds before before she gives Bellamy a hug and walks away.

The new clip of episode 1 doesn't reveal any additional information, well aside from the fact Mendes makes his debut. Although a tweet from creator Jason Rothenberg earlier this year confirmed his role as Macallan, a “scrappy, young Ark survivor.”

Raven catches Mendes stealing and he sings his hit song “Stitches” to make up for his regrettable mistake. “What do you guys want for it?” Mendes asks after he tries to discreetly walk away after snatching something off a work bench. “One song,” Raven tells him. He calmly walks over to the piano and starts serenading the room. Abigail and Raven share a drink over his heartfelt lyrics. YouTubers are questioning whether his role, and song, fit into the episode. What do you think? Take a look:
