Adam Driver totally killed it on Saturday Night Live this weekend as he delivered a surprisingly terrific performance as the host of SNL's first episode in 2016. Best of all, the Kylo Ren actor from Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought with him the power of the Dark Side to perform a hysterical Star Wars parody that sheds light on what's life like on the Starkiller Base.
The Star Wars fans that have seen the movie are familiar with Kylo Ren's insecurities despite being the Commander of the First Order and a gifted user of the Force. The SNL skit created an Undercover Boss reality show scenario on the Starkiller Base and it's Kylo Ren's opportunity to go undercover as "Matt the radar technician" so that he could get to know his employees more intimately and really understand what it's like to work under The First Order.
The absurdity of Kylo Ren's "Matt" disguise (Ren trades his trademark sinister mask for a nerdy pair of glasses) is made even louder by the unmistakable underlying rage of an unstable man as well as the rigid and awkward cadence of Ren's stern voice. The skit comes to life when Adam Driver's Matt the radar technician is juxtaposed by Bobby Moynihan, who plays an apathetic Stormtrooper that keeps it real and constantly disses Kylo. Eventually, Kylo, err Matt, has had enough and Force chokes the stormtrooper before throwing him across the common room.
"Dude, Matt straight up sucks!" says Moynihan's character after being slammed into a soda machine.
Watch Adam Driver's hilarious Star Wars skit on SNL and be sure not to miss his other performances that night, including "America's Funniest Cats," "Porn Doctor," and "Golden Globes."
