The crowd went nuts when the cast of Agents Of SHIELD arrived at Madison Square Garden for their NYCC panel. With the fate of the series uncertain after the Season 4 finale aired, fans rejoiced when Marvel TV executive Jeph Loeb said Disney refused to abandon the series. In addition to new footage (which we get to in another article), there were tons of laughs and joking going on about what to expect in Agents Of SHIELD Season 5. So before we get into the serious stuff later, here’s the best moments from the panel.
Release Date
Jeph Loeb announced Agents of SHIELD Season 5 will premiere Friday, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. A special two-hour premiere will kick off the season, and the series will fill the 9 p.m. time slot for the rest of the season.
Epic Music
There was a stunned silence when the lights dimmed in Madison Square Garden, but then the speakers rumbled and Marvel played the most epic intro music for Jeph Loeb.
We Love You, Coulson
Jeph Loeb had the best song, but Clark Gregg had the warmest welcome (with Chloe Bennet a close second). Loeb reminded fans how important Phil Coulson is to the Marvel Cinematic Universe--the heart and soul of Agents of SHIELD.
The Kiss
During the Q&A session, a fan bluntly asked for new footage. Loeb wasn’t convinced it was the right time, so Iain De Caestecker did everyone a favor. He wooed Loeb into showing the first 20 minutes of the premiere episode with a huge kiss on the lips.
Yo-Yo Is Series Regular
After years of dating, Marvel and Natalia Cordova are finally going steady. Yo-Yo is now a full-time cast member, which means the endless shipping for her and Mack is in full swing.
& More
This cast isn’t new to NYCC. In fact, the screening of the pilot episode of Agents of SHIELD took place in the Javitz center at NYCC. So when this group gets together, it’s all jokes. Below are the best tidbits from the panel.
