'Dynasty Warriors: Origins' Has 'Very Positive' Reviews on Steam, 4.5 Stars on Google Reviews

Hack-and-slash games have been a favorite of many gamers, and one of the best-known video game series under the genre is "Dynasty Warriors."

It may have taken seven long years, but the newest installment to the series has arrived, and it seems to be a hit among gamers.

Here's what you have to know about "Dynasty Warriors: Origins'

Developed and published by Koei Tecmo, "Dynasty Warriors: Origins" was released on January 17, 2025. Similar to previously releases in the series, "Origins" is based on the Chinese novel "Romance of the Three Kingdoms."

However, where it differs is that it only focuses on the first half of the novel. It is also a single-player game, while previous released allowed for co-op play.

Despite this, players have the ability to select another general who will fight alongside the main character.

'Very Positive' Reviews on Steam

As of writing, "Dynasty Warriors: Origins" has more than 7,700 user reviews on Steam that have been categorized as "Very Positive."

"Solid entry into 'Warriors' series," said user Hbnumbertwo in a Steam review. "Absolute shame there is no multiplayer."

"Very fun reboot, more action RPG than previous games in the series," user Shamblow said in a separate review. "I like the slower paced narrative but wish it went further into the 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' story."

4.5 Stars on Google Reviews

Over at Google Reviews, the game holds a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 as of writing.

"As someone who is a fan of the 'Dynasty Warriors' series, this game brought back a ton of nostalgia," Google user Jacob Crumb said in a review. "Besides the amazing graphics, the fact that Koei Tecmo goes to the past 'Dynasty Warriors' games and uses those elements was a surprise to many people."

"Origins is a fantastic 180 in the right direction for the Dynasty franchise, with combat feeling more visceral and cinematic than ever before, with more combos, distinct weapon feel, and the ultimate bad-a**ery we all loved from the series now given more depth," Google user Curtis Clemons said in a separate review.
