The PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One will see another modern retro classic come to their platforms, as Aggelos is all set for its console launch on July 12.
This was announced by publisher PQube and developer Wonderboy Bobi in a tweet. Check it out below.
These two versions were delayed after an initial planned release in April. Despite the delay, Aggelos did manage to release on time for the Switch. Aggelos first launched for PC on Steam back in June 2018, where it received a very positive critical reception.
Aggelos is a 2D side-scrolling action adventure title with Metroidvania and platforming elements, while taking most of its inspiration from the classic 16-bit era of games, particularly Wonder Boy in Monster World. Check out a trailer for the title below to see what to expect from Aggelos.
Aggelos is a callback to the 16-bit era of games, including its whimsical, yet heroic tone, the wonderfully animated sprites, and the nostalgic music. The game is set in the middle of a colossal struggle for survival as various beings from another dimension threaten to invade the relatively peaceful Kingdom of Lumen. Aggelos mixes retro style aesthetics with modern-day game design and mechanics to create the ultimate celebration of one of the best eras in video game history.
Aggelos features a vast kingdom to explore, and players can venture through forests, seas, cave systems and various ancient temples in order to uncover the magical elements needed to save the world from destruction. It also features a non-linear world like a Metroidvania game, in which certain new areas only reveal themselves once you gain abilities to traverse them.
Besides the main quest, Aggelos also features a ton of side content as you do odd jobs for the various people in Lumen. To help you on your quest, you are given access to many magical abilities and high-level attacks, all of which will be made available to you throughout the course of your journey.
Aggelos is now available to play on PC and the Switch, with versions for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One coming in July 12.
