Amazon Games has entered an agreement with NCSOFT to introduce the MMORPG Throne and Liberty to North America. It's arriving on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S with cross-platform play support.
Throne and Liberty offers a story-driven adventure and combines it with action combat. In the game, players are taken to a vast world where the geographical and environmental features are constantly shifting which change the course of play. There's going to be a massive-scale PvP and PvE combat.
The game allows players to transform into animals and let them explore the depths of the sea or the endless sky. They can even trigger powerful environmental effects like rainstorms to turn the tide of battle their way.
Throne and Liberty is also launching in South America, Europe, and Japan.
Continuing the Momentum
By publishing Throne and Liberty, Amazon Games continues its momentum following the success of the New World and Lost Ark. Both games have topped Twitch and Steam charts while nurturing strong player communities.
It's not just Throne and Liberty that Amazon Games has in the pipeline when it comes to publishing agreements. There's one with Bandai Namco Online for Blue Protocol and another with Crystal Dynamics for an upcoming Tomb Raider game. There are also other agreements in place with Glowmade and Disruptive Games for yet-to-be announced titles.
In a statement, Amazon Games VP Christoph Hartmann shared that NCSOFT has been creating some of the most popular, as well as longest-running, online games so it's not surprising to learn that many people are looking forward to Throne and Liberty. He added that publishing games continues to play a significant role in the strategy of Amazon Games.
Offering Multiplayer Franchises
In the case of NCSOFT, the studio has a long history in developing and publishing multiplayer franchises, such as Lineage, AION, Blade & Soul, and Guild Wars. Throne and Liberty is the latest offering and the first one to be released in multiple regions.
Moonyoung Choi of NCSOFT revealed that when it comes to publishing massive live-service games on a global scale, Amazon Games is a reliable partner. For this upcoming title, Choi added that they're confident they've found the right publisher.
