A new rumor has surfaced that AMD is planning to release its fourth-generation Ryzen processors and RDNA 3 graphics cards together in 2022.
For a time, AMD didn’t have anything to offer that would rival Intel processors. But the company’s resurgence in 2016 made sure that “team red” is going to be the industry leader for many years to come.
That said, the company’s Zen 4 processors are likely to be released next year alongside the newest graphics cards with RDNA 3 architecture according to a new rumor.
The Rumor
This new information was disclosed by a leaker called @Broly_X1. In their tweet, the user claims that RDNA 3 GPUs and Zen 4 CPUs will be launched simultaneously next year, and the time frame will likely be in Q4 of 2022.
If this rumor is to be believed, this would give Intel enough time to release a new line of CPUs that would make use of the new DDR5 memory and possibly even the new PCIe 5.0 technology.
While everything the leaker disclosed is enticing, keep in mind that the details are still rumors at this point. So if anything, take them with a grain of salt.
What’s in Store for You
Even though AMD is not going to release new CPUs and GPUs anytime soon, it is still fun to speculate about what its upcoming products might be.
The same leaker tweeted in early May that the Zen 4 architecture (codename Raphael). Zen 4 is rumored to use the 5-nanometer process, which is thought to be more efficient than the 7-nm used in Zen 3 CPUs.
The decrease in the process node would mean that the CPU has 25% gains in its IPC, as well as a theoretical 40% boost in overall performance. Not to mention that it may be energy-efficient as well.
It is worth noting that because of the global silicon shortage, the Zen 4 CPUs may be more expensive than their predecessor.
Furthermore, if the new Zen 4 CPUs use the new DDR5 memory, people will need a new motherboard to support that, which is an added cost.
What do you think of this rumor? Is the company going to release both new GPUs and CPUs together?
