Animal Crossing Pocket Camp has only just launched, but we’re already being treated to the mobile game’s first seasonal celebration: a holiday event. Well, let’s face it, it’s a Christmas affair: I don’t see any Kwanzaa colors or menorahs anywhere, but I do see plenty of Jolly Ol’ Saint Nick trappings. Here’s the deal:

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp’s holiday event started on Nov. 30 at 1 a.m. EST and lasts until Dec. 26 at 12:59 a.m. EST.

The event’s currency is candy canes, which you get by fulfilling requests for animals. You can craft special holiday furniture using the candy canes in addition to bells. Completing select Timed Goals unlocks special holiday clothing as well. All players should have received a free Santa hat in their inbox at the start of the event, so make sure you pick that up.

Here’s all the furniture, its style, the time to complete and the number of bells and candy canes you’ll need to craft each piece. I think my favorite part of these furniture names is how decidedly non-Christmas they are despite how extremely Christmas they are, as opposed to the clothing, which is all named “Santa [X]”. Anyway:

To craft special event furniture, open the Craft menu and tap on the limited-time icon. The furniture can’t be made after the event ends. Event furniture that you start crafting during the event can be collected after it ends. These limited-time furniture and clothes may become available again in the future, so if you don’t get it this year, maybe you will next year!

Here are all of the Timed Goal Event Challenges that will let you achieve a complete Santa outfit, as well as candy canes, Leaf Tickets and more:

  • Complete 3 requests for visiting animals: x20 candy canes

  • Complete 10 requests for visiting animals: x40 candy canes

  • Complete 30 requests for visiting animals: Santa pants

  • Craft festive fireplace: x20 Leaf Tickets

  • Craft three-ball snowman: x1 sparkle stone

  • Craft festive streetlight: x80 candy canes

  • Craft festive bow tree: x20 leaf tickets

  • Craft jingle snow globe: x80 candy canes

  • Craft jingle fence: Santa coat

  • Craft jingle checked rug: Santa boots

  • Craft jingle checked bed: x40 candy canes

  • Craft big festive cake: x5 leaf tickets

  • Craft mountain of presents: x20 candy canes

  • Craft jingle checked sofa: x20 candy canes

  • Complete 70 requests for visiting animals: x1 Santa skirt

If you focus on crafting the items that give you candy canes first, such as the festive streetlight, you’re essentially getting a mail-in rebate on the cost of those items. The festive streetlight is 100 candy canes to craft, but after you get 80 candy canes back, it only cost you 20 candy canes. Finish those and then craft the rest of the items that you want to maximize your candy cane yield.

All of the holiday furniture takes much less time to craft than other furniture, so you may want to focus on getting a complete set of holiday furniture first, since it is limited-time. Use Request Tickets in order to grind more candy canes (as well as materials) out of animals, if you have them.

Players can also collect candy canes at Shovelstrike Quarry, which can be entered once a day with the help of five friends, or whenever you want by using 20 Leaf Tickets. You can purchase Leaf Tickets (a special launch promotion is currently ongoing) or gain them through gameplay (10 Leaf Tickets every time you level up).

What’s your favorite of the Animal Crossing Pocket Camp holiday event items? Do you think you’ll be able to craft everything by Christmas? Don’t forget to check out our complete review and let us know your thoughts on this holiday event in the comments section below.
