Netflix greenlit an R-rated, animated feature film about George Washington starring Channing Tatum, Deadline reports. It’s called America: The Motion Picture and it’s a “revisionist history tale about the founding of the country.” But even weirder than the premise is the list of names behind it. Despite the terrible title, America: The Motion Picture is backed by a bonkers list of action-comedy directors, producers and writers.

America: The Motion Picture (no, this doesn’t seem to be an April Fool’s gag), will be directed by Matt Thompson, a longtime animation producer on shows including Frisky Dingo, Sealab 2021 and Archer. Adam Reed, Archer’s creator, will produce America, partnering with Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie), who are currently busy directing the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story for Disney/Lucasfilm.

It’s unclear just how much involvement the Han Solo movie duo will have in America. With Lord Miller (the name of their production company) producer Will Allegra also attached, it could be as little as some executive producer credits for Lord and Miller. However, the Archer influence is likely to be more obvious, since Reed and Thompson’s Floyd County Productions already have an animation pipeline in place. If there’s anything we can guess about America: The Motion Picture it’s that it might just look a little like Archer.

The script for America: The Motion Picture was written by Dave Callaham (Doom, The Expendables, Zombieland 2), indicating a likely action-heavy plot for Tatum’s George Washington and his fellow founding fathers.

There’s no release date or really any other details about America: The Motion Picture, but Netflix’s take on R-rated comedy, loaded with this much talent, should be a nice antidote to the oncoming onslaught of new Netflix Adam Sandler movies.
