Arrow Season 5 villain speculation began before the Season 4 finale even aired, but with San Diego Comic Con comes juicy spoilers, including a name for Green Arrow’s new adversary. The last few moments of the trailer above appear to feature a new vigilante named Ragman.
Meet Wild Dog, Artemis, Tobias Church and a reinvented Curtis Holt. The second episode of Arrow Season 5 is called ‘Recruits,’ and the trailer’s training montage is just a taste of how Oliver has to whip these newcomers into shape. However, the first trailer wasn’t the only new big Arrow reveal in San Diego.
Prometheus
No, not the one from Justice League. We don’t know too much about this villain yet, but it was previously revealed he has no superpowers and somehow has ties all the way back to Arrow Season 1. The new adversary “ fits into the theme of legacy,” EP Marc Guggenheim said.
Thea Works A Day Job
“What a garbage mayor he is,” Stephen Amell revealed. “He’s terrible.” Apparently, Thea actually does all the work “carrying all the water as mayor.” Thea is no longer participating in Arrow’s vigilantism. Instead, she’s posted up in the Mayor’s office handling the day-to-day of Ollie’s new job.
Katie Cassidy Returns
Katie Cassidy is coming back again (probably by way of flashbacks) in the Arrow Season 5 premiere where we’ll presumably find out what Oliver promised to her moments before she died. Alternate versions of Cassidy’s Black Canary will appear across the Arrowverse on The Flash, Legends, and Supergirl as she’s been promoted to a series regular across all DC TV shows.
Curtis Holt Gets An Origin Story
At first we though Curtis Holt was just going to be Team Arrow’s new mechanical engineer, like Cisco is for Team Flash. Turns out, he’s going to spend some time on the salmon ladder. "He wants to become a vigilante and he wants to start fighting crime," said Guggenheim. "At the same time, he's got this husband at home that's probably going to start to notice that he's coming home with bruises and cuts."
Wendy Mericle also confirmed to TV Insider that Curtis Holt’s origin will be featured in the upcoming season. “We will be doing a real origin story for Mr. Terrific in Season 5.”
Diggle Is Overseas
”Dig is with the Special Forces in Chechnya still coping with having to kill his own brother. Hoping to find his moral compass again, it’s unclear where Lyla fits in this picture.
Joe Dinicol as Ragman
Ragman, aka Rory Regan, draws upon mystical powers by the corrupted souls entrenched within his suit. At the start of Season 5, Star City will be overrun with criminals. Ragman comes out of the shadows and eventually crosses paths with Oliver.
Malcolm Merlyn Is An Expert Time Traveler
"I've time-traveled before, I know what it's all about,” John Barrowman revealed after explaining we may see a different side of him when he crosses over to Legends of Tomorrow.
Crossover Details
Arrow ’s 100th episode marks the middle of The CW’s four-show crossover event. Amell revealed months ago that there will be more crossover’s this year than ever before.
Lookout for more details on the what actor is playing Prometheus. We also still don’t know what villainous character Guggenheim has in mind for former WWE wrestler Cody Rhodes, but Stephen Amell said he’ll first appear in episode 3. Still no additional details on Carly Pope’s Susan Williams, a reporter who has a hunch about Oliver, or District Attorney Adrian Chase, another Star City vigilante named, The Vigilante.
