The biggest Arrow Season 6 reveals at San Diego Comic-Con were about the villains. Instead of a season long big bad, the new season will center on a “group of villains” according to the cast. While the exact group of villains was not specified (we have our theories), the producers revealed Anatoly, Oliver’s old Bratva buddy, will be coming back to the series “with a vengeance.” But they also mentioned a random name from the DC Canon: Richard Dragon.
Executive Producer Wendy Mericle told ComicBook.com’s Russ Burlingame Richard Dragon will remind fans of Prometheus, with a few key differences.
"I think the thing we get out of Richard Dragon is a different way of approaching what worked last season. We liked that we went back to this gritty crime drama for the show, and Richard Dragon gives us an opportunity to do that. He's from the streets, he's a fighter. He's more from the glade side of town, he's a gang leader, and we're going to use that to our advantage and also explore new territory. We've seen Oliver go up against a lot of people, but nobody quite like him."
Formerly a member of the League of Assassins in the comics, Ricardo Diaz Jr. is the founder of the Longbow Hunters, a group formed to fight against Green Arrow. He’s one of the most talented martial artists around, using concentration and meditation to hone his skills. We are always down to see an older, wiser Oliver Queen face off hand-to-hand against a skilled combatant like Richard Dragon. He also has ties to Lady Shiva, Bronze Tiger, and The Question...which presents some interesting opportunities for the show.
Mericle also touched on theSseason 5 cliffhanger, when everyone Oliver’s knows and loves is stuck on an exploding island with seemingly no way off.
"We will get answers. You'll know by the end of the premiere who made it and who didn't, and you'll see Oliver mourning. You'll definitely see him going through a grieving process"
