Assassin's Creed Valhalla is just a few weeks away from release, and Ubisoft has started dropping new promotional content, kicking off with a Deep Dive trailer that the company released earlier today.
The new trailer is seven minutes long and gives us a brief idea of what to expect from Valhalla. However, this time around Ubisoft ensured to include both male and female versions of Eivor equally throughout the trailer.
The trailer kicks off by sharing Eivor's backstory, and it seems that the protagonist will be the Raven clan's war chief from the get-go. During the times of conquest, Eivor and their clan are forced to settle in the New Frontiers, but their journey won't seem to be an easy one. Eivor's story will typically begin with a simple need of finding a home for their clan. This will lead to the establishment of a settlement for Eivor's clan, and this settlement will serve as a base camp for Eivor. The settlements allow Eivor to learn more about their clan members.
The trailer also confirmed four kingdoms within the world of Valhalla, including Mercia, East Anglia, Northumbria, and Wessex. Eivor and their clan will need to forge alliances with different territories in England, which will allow for the expansion of the settlements and the unlocking of new quests.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla's story arcs offer the player the opportunity to shape Eivor's character by letting them explore different themes, including honor, glory, leadership, and choice. The choices made by Eivor will leave a long-lasting impact on the kingdoms of England.
We also learned new things about Assassin's Creed Valhalla's combat, including Eivor's ability to engage in brutal hand-to-hand fighting, close-quarter melee attacks, and two-handed finishes. Eivor also has ranged abilities in their arsenal, including summoning a wolf to take down enemies. Poison powder traps also give the Viking war chief an upper-hand when approaching enemies.
For the first time in an Assassin's Creed game, players will be able to seamlessly switch between male and female Eivor.
After a raid, you'll return back to your settlement and use the resources you gained to expand your settlement. You can build a variety of structures that directly impact your gameplay experience. For instance, the barracks helps in creating a custom crew of raiders, the blacksmith will enhance your weapons and gear, the tattooist will help in customizing Eivor's appearance, the Shipyard takes care of your Longship's upgrades, and the Hidden One's bureau serves as the Assassin headquarters.
The trailer concluded by confirming that Asgard will be a fantasy location in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, which should pit players against the mythical Norse Gods.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is releasing on November 10 for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. The game will release later on the PS5.
