Team Asobi surprised fans by announcing that there will be a winter update coming to Astro Bot on Dec. 12, 2024, that will add new content ahead of the holiday.
The main addition to the upcoming patch is a new level called Winter Wonder, which feels right at home during the holiday season. In order to access the new stage, players will first have to complete the main story of the base game.
Astro Bot's Surprise Winter Update
The new level is still a surprise for now, but Team Asobi reassured fans that it will be a "fun-filled level with shiny presents, a good dose of jingle bells, and brand-new special bots to add to your crew!"
All of these sound like the perfect update to prepare players for joyous holiday festivities. Another thing to note is that Winter Wonder will not be a challenge level and is just a regular stage people can play through, according to PlayStation Lifestyle.
Team Asobi also wrote that the new update for Astro Bot was designed to cater to all types of players and is meant to be a celebration that is enjoyable for both children and adults. The developers said they had a lot of fun making the new content and hope fans like it as well.
Various trophy tracking websites have not yet picked up any additional trophies for Astro Bot. This means that there is not yet any guarantee that there will be new ones for players to unlock within the game when the update drops.
A New Level
The Winter Wonder update will be available to all players who own Astro Bot on the PlayStation 5 at no extra cost. Studio director Nicolas Doucet said that since releasing the game, they have received tons of positive comments from the community, IGN said.
He expressed his team's gratitude for the players' appreciation of the beloved platformer. The new free update is meant to be a form of thank you to all those who continue to support the developer's game.
Team Asobi also said that this is, so far, everything that it would be doing for Astro Bot this year. It has been a special journey for the studio, and it thanked its supporters for joining them on their adventure.
The studio said in a post that they were wishing the community a very relaxing and restful end of the year that is hopefully full of gaming, according to the PlayStation Blog.
