Avengers 4 does not arrive until May 2019, but we already get a tease about what’s in store for the Avengers after they take on Thanos in Infinity War later this year. A photo from the set of the film taken by Joe Passori could be the first of Iron Man’s new Arc Reactor, potentially used to power a new Iron Man suit.
In case you need a refresher, Stark needs a reactor to live. After a bomb exploded during the Ten Rings attack and shrapnel went into his body, Dr. Ho Yinsen saved him by holding the metal in place with an electromagnet made from a car battery. Stark knew he had to make a more sustainable version of the device to live. He adapted Stark Industries’ arc reactor to replace it. Stark eventually modified the reactor to also power his Iron Man suits.
Early Infinity War rumors first suggested that one main character, such as Thor, Captain America or Iron Man, would die. These photos showing Tony Stark not only mean he’s not the one to die, but also tease how he lives. It’s possible this is some completely new arc reactor created with some alien tech.
Photos also show another scene revealing Tony and Bruce Banner looking pretty sad, which could be another clue. It looks a little like a departing hug, but the photos are a bit vague to know exactly what’s happening.
The other photos show the return of Pepper Potts, who we know got engaged to Tony Stark at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming in place of Peter Parker going public about Spider-Man. These are the first photos from the set of Avengers 4, which began earlier this month in Atlanta.
