A new update for Baldur’s Gate 3 is dropping tomorrow. One of the things that players can expect from Patch 5 is the major improvements, like the visual upgrades for cinematics and weapons. New game-changing mechanics are also arriving in the game.
The new update also introduces improvements to the AI. For example, enemies will be more intelligent and more resourceful than ever. You think the enemies are unarmed? Well then prepare to be surprised as they’re likely to pick up discarded weapons. Be prepared to experience the sight of goblins helping each other by tossing health potions.
The new update is set to offer the Active Roll System. For those who have been playing the game for quite some time, one of the most feared moments is during skill checks where everyone is at the mercy of the RNG. With the new system, players can apply spells and bonuses to their rolls to swing it in their favor. That’s not all since the new update now has players see their modifiers, as well as status effects, within the UI instead of simply being in the background.
Another new feature is the Background Goals. By default, players can select a “Background” at the game’s Character Creation screen. This time though, each character now has their own series of secret mini-quests based on roles. So when a Folk Hero performs a Heroic or Folksy, they get rewarded. The development team said that with this, players should be able to get benefits when acting what is expected from their character.
Camp Resources, meanwhile, will have a new feature known as Camp Supplier. What happens is that when players decide to make camp to activate Long Rest, they need to have supplies. That means every food and scraps are now important in the game. Players can also look forward to Mini Camps. These are context-dependent environments that serve as an alternative to returning to the HQ.
These are just some of the new features that are coming with Patch 5. The complete patch notes are set to be revealed when the new update arrives.
