April normally doesn’t have many big games for release. Most companies like to launch their games during Q4 to capitalize on holiday sales. Well thanks to COVID-19, things are a little different this year. April isn’t even over yet and we already had some big releases including Outriders and Oddworld: Soulstorm, and there are more games to come.
Here are the upcoming games that we are waiting for.
MLB The Show 21
The yearly-released baseball game by Sony launches tomorrow, April 20. MLB The Show 21 will be available worldwide on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and for the very first time, on Xbox consoles. Not only that, Xbox players will be able to play the game via Xbox Game Pass. If you have a subscription to the Pass, then you can play the game for free. PS players, however, will have to purchase it. Ironic, given that MLB The Show 21 is a first-party title by Sony.
NieR Replicant™ ver.1.22474487139...
Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139..., the remaster of the 2010’s Nier, will release on April 23, though players in Japan can get their hands on the game 24 hours early. The game will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Newer consoles can also launch the remaster via backward compatibility.
Total War: Rome Remastered
This is a remaster of the classic Total War: Rome released back in 2004. The remaster was announced last month and will release on PC only on April 29. The original is considered as one of the best Total War games and we can only hope that this one lives up to it. You can purchase Total War: Rome Remastered on Steam for $29.99.
Returnal
This one’s a pretty big title. Returnal is a first-party title developed by Housemarque and published by Sony. It will release exclusively for PlayStation 5 on April 30. So if you aren’t one of those lucky people who got their hands on the new console, well, tough luck. We hope that this first-party title, like Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn, will eventually make its way to PC. The enemies and environment of this game look phenomenal.
