The BioShock franchise has been dormant for quite a while. Other than some remasters, we haven’t got a new entry in almost a decade. Well, that might change soon. It was confirmed back in 2019 that the newly founded game studio, Cloud Chamber, is working on a new BioShock game. But aside from that, we don’t have any new information about the new title, until now.
A recent job posting by the development studio hints that the new game may be an open world. The posting for a senior writer position says: “We’re hoping to find someone who can weave impactful, character-driven stories in an open world setting.” The posting also suggests that the senior writer will have to work with the design to brainstorm primary and secondary missions. This sounds a lot like an open-world game to me.
The last game in the series was BioShock Infinite released back in 2013. The game received critical reception from both fans and critics. It also won several GOTY awards. However, after that, no new game was launched. The director of BioShock (2007) and Infinite, Ken Levine, is not a part of the new BioShock in any way. He is making a completely new game that will have “some weird stuff." Check out our previous article for more information.
If you haven’t played any BioShock game, then we highly recommend that you do so. All three games are a must-play and you can grab the complete collection on Steam. It contains the following games:
- BioShock (2007)
- BioShock Remastered
- BioShock 2
- BioShock 2 Remastered
- BioShock Infinite
The collection includes all the DLCs of the three games as well.
