Those looking for a new open-world game are in luck with the global release of Biomutant. This post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG is live on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, and is currently priced at $59.99.
So how’s the game faring so far? On Steam, the reviews are mixed and as of this writing, 56% of the 2,530 user reviews are generally positive.
One feature that everyone can expect is the new approach to third-person combat. The martial arts-style combat system gives players maximum freedom of movement while being able to use powers. Known as Wung-Fu combat, players can learn it from the masters they meet throughout the game.
To ensure an enjoyable experience, developers created the game with ever-evolving gameplay. Players can change not only how they look but also how they play, and any changes they do can impact attributes.
Biomutant also offers freedom on other game elements. One example is when crafting weapons. Players can come up with their own weapons by simply mixing and matching parts. They can make a unique shotgun using modifications like corkscrews or chainsaw modules. There are also characters in the game who can craft weapons that players need.
Expect freedom as well when it comes to equipping your characters. This is important when entering or exploring certain areas, which may have deadly environments. Stepping in the Dead Zones, for example, means that players need a gas mask and oxygen tank. Going into cryonic areas means the use of thermos-resistant clothes.
